Can not access "Programs and Features" in control panel
I installed Windows 7 twice on the Viliv X70. Everything ran great on the first installation but, running Windows Defender cause a serious problem that cause me to reinstall it for the second time. I havent ran Windows defender on the second installation yet. However the only problem I am having on the second installation is with Programs and Features in the Control Panel. Problem: When I click on Programs and Features I get a message box that say Windows Explorer has stop working along with two options. When I click on the option to check for solution online and restart the program, the message box goes away, Control Panel closes, and the desktop reloads (refresh). Please helpRegard

Perhaps you have an extension that is causing the problem. ShellExView can be useful to see which shell extensions have been introduced into Explorer by third party applications. Read about it then scroll down to the bottom to download the x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version here http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html Click on the Company column to alphabetically sequence the entries. Assuming that the Microsoft entries are bona fide, is there anything else listed that is either unnecessary or suspicious? If so, highlight it and click the red button to disable it. If you accidentally disable an item, it is reversible by clicking the green button.

It is more likely that Win 7 is not supported on that device.

Hi, I would like to know if you installed any programs after installing Windows 7. This issue may occur if third party program affects Control Panel. You may test it in Clean Boot mode first. If it persists, collect the following information and I will check it. System Information ============= 1. Click the Start Button, type "MSINFO32" in the Start Search box and press Enter to start the System Information. 2. On the popup window, on the menu bar, click "File", and click "Save", type a file name and then choose NFO as "Save as type", click Desktop on the left pane, and click Save. (If the Desktop option is not available, please click Browse Folder button first.) 3. Go to the Desktop, right-click on the exported file, choose "Send To" -> "Compressed (zipped) Folder". Collect Control Panel information ============== 1. Click Start Menu, type "cmd" in the Start Search box. 2. Right-click the exe file and choose "run as administrator". 3. Input the following commands in the DOS prompt window and press ENTER at the end of each line: CD C:\Windows\System32 Dir *.CPL -> C:\CPL.TXT 6. Go to C drive, find out the CPL.TXT file and upload the above two files to http://skydrive.live.com/. You can also use ShellExView to clear third party shell extensions. Hope it helps.Vivian Xing - MSFT
